GROUP WIKI

Wikis are great although I think there are pros and cons to using them.  The pros include the ability for anyone registered to the wiki to edit the pages, collaboration amongst the group such as sharing other websites or tools that may be useful, and discussion boards to exchange dialogue on important issues or pose questions that other group members may be able to answer.  All in all, a wiki is a like a website controlled by all those registered to it.  I can see wikis being useful as a website for a certain department in school (such as all math teachers running one wiki).

The one thing I do not like about wikis is that it can get messy and hard to navigate.  Because their are so many authors, if people are constantly changing the site in an unorganized way, infomation could get lost.  Too much stuff could also be put into a wiki.

My group of math colleagues put together a wiki for students called Functions Everywhere!, a mathematical site to help kids understand functions better and give real life examples.  You can create your own wiki by going to wetpaint.com to get started.
